National Taco Day

If I told you that I started heavy breathing when I found out it was National Taco and Vodka day, would you believe me? Well, it’s true 😂  I haven’t had vodka yet, I prefer tequila with my tacos, but I’ll catch up.

Tacos are literally my favorite food. There are so many variations and I can’t really pick a favorite because it changes depending on the mood I’m in. I have so many taco joints saved on my Yelp collection, today I chose Cantina Barba for a try.

Cantina Barba is located in The Heights area right on the corner of Main St and Pierce. It’s no frills and the menu is simple just like I like it. The place is small inside but they have a small patio area outside. I chose to sit out there.

We ordered chips and queso, plantains and a 4 different tacos. Pollo, asada, barbacoa and smoked pork. The chips and queso lacked flavor and was a little watery for my liking. My friend said that the chicken and steak tacos were both moist, but needed more flavor. He topped his with the rojo salsa and mentioned it packs a peppery kick. E39731F5-D3C0-4B5A-914B-F23EDB67519D

My barbacoa was a little over cooked and needed more flavor but once I topped it with the salsa verde it balanced perfectly.

The smoked pork taco and plantains were my favorite! Very moist and flavorful, I added avocado which was 50cents.

The plantains were cooked perfectly, piping hot and sweet. C1E0FBA4-9F5D-4C97-99CA-8EA468C5FECC.jpeg

Overall I’d return to Cantina Barba as the margaritas were strong and  the smoked pork tacos were very yummy. I’d probably get 2 of those next time and I’ll have to try the elotes.
