Wait for love or something like it

It’s Krispy Kreme’s 81st birthday and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than finally trying a “Luther burger.” The Luther burger is a cheeseburger with bacon on a toasted Krispy Kreme doughnut. Sounds “So Amazing,” right! It’s supposed to be named after the singer Luther Vandross, but don’t quote me on that.

The lines were out of the door and the drive-thru line was around the corner. I decided to “Wait for Love” or something like it. People are rushing to get their $1 dozens and I even managed to get rear-ended. That still didn’t defeat me. I got out of the car and went in. The wait was for people wanting dozen’s, I just needed two. I got to the front of the line and placed my order for two original glazed. The cashier replied “only two?” I guess she felt a dozen was “Never too much” but for one person, I disagree.

Back to the burger. This one I made by cutting the bottoms off of two donuts and browning them in bacon grease with the glazed side facing upward. I cooked 3 strips of bacon, ground sirloin and red onions. Then I topped the burger with a 3 cheese blend of pepper jack, Colby, and cheddar. This girl loves a great burger but this one will “Always and Forever” be a favorite.
